An Important Consideration for Anyone Planning to Build a New Home

Energy Efficiency has always been an important consideration when building your new custom home. Energy costs are higher than ever before and will most likely continue to increase.

The Energuide Program will provide you with an Energuide Rating (ER) for your new home (similar to the stickers you get on a new appliance).  This program works in conjunction with R2000 and there are rebates available based on the ER of your new home.

What does this sticker tell you?  It is an estimate of the energy (oil, electricity and natural gas) that you can expect to consume each year. The higher your ER number, the more energy efficient your home is. An ER rating of 83 offers a rebate of $3,000.00, ER 85 is $5,000.00 and ER 88 or higher is $7,000.00. Most R2000 homes have an ER rating of 83-88.
