Recently, I had the honour of receiving the Leo Senz Lifetime Achievement Award at the Kohltech Peak Awards. Being recognized by peers in an industry I’ve dedicated my life to means a great deal. I would like to sincerely thank the Canadian Home Builders' Association Nova Scotia and the Senz family for this recognition.
Our company was founded in 1969 by my parents, Doug and Melva Sawlor. Their values—hard work, integrity, and doing right by people—continue to guide everything we do today. Since taking ownership of the company in 1996 alongside my wife Debbie, we’ve focused on building on that foundation—not just creating custom homes, but delivering a level of care and experience that exceeds our clients’ expectations.
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working with many incredible people. Our team—past and present—has helped shape who we are. I would also like to recognize Jessica, Donny, and Kevin—thank you. Not just for the work you do, but for the pride you bring to it every day. As the industry has evolved, so have we, and I’m proud to be surrounded by a team today that continues to raise the bar. It’s also incredibly meaningful to see our children, Kaila and Brett, stepping into the business as the third generation.
Most importantly, thank you to our clients, trade partners, and industry colleagues. The homes we build matter—but the relationships we build along the way matter even more.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey.
