Making the Big Exterior Decisions

If you’ve built or renovated your home, you’ve likely given a lot of thought to where things will be placed within your home and what colors and styles you’re partial to. Exterior home decisions can be a little more tricky in that they’re not always obvious. Do you know what style of shingle you like best or what type of siding will hold up to your local elements?

While the Internet is a great tool to show you what’s out there, simply taking a drive around your neighbourhood (or neighbourhood-to-be) can give you an idea of what works and what’s popular in your area. Then, running those ideas past your builder to get his or her opinion will narrow down the many exterior choices you have to make.

Keith is a Past Board Member of the Atlantic Home Warranty Program as well as the Canadian Home Builders' Association Nova Scotia. He is involved in many other industry programs and associations, such as the Canadian Home Builders’ Association National and Better Business Bureau.
